Biography: Brandon grew up the son of a sailor. The majority of his childhood was split between Opp, Alabama and Charleston, South Carolina. After graduation, he worked offshore on an oil rig before attending Troy University where he became involved with Campus Outreach. Following his time at Troy, he did an internship at Trinity Presbyterian Church here in Montgomery. In 2004, he moved to Orlando to attend Reformed Theological Seminary where he studied theology and obtained his Masters of Arts in Counseling. While in seminary, he met Lora who was pursuing her MA in Biblical Studies. They were married in 2006. Brandon worked as a counselor for 4 years at Gilstrap and Associates in Orlando. He also spent time pursuing another passion of his, BBQ. This side job of BBQ catering quickly bloomed into a thriving, full time business in the restaurant industry called Caro-Bama BBQ. It became the means by which Lora was able to stay at home with their children. The business took off and provided well for the family for several years. After completing a really good run in the food industry, the door opened for Brandon to go back to his first calling. Working as a counselor allows Brandon to provide a safe place for people to experience connection, healing and growth. The route “home” has been unconventional, to say the least, but the experiences and growth along the way could not have been accomplished by taking any other path. Approach to Counseling: Brandon’s focus is to create a safe place for clients to look at their story. The hard places in our stories cause us to be disconnected from God, ourselves, and others. Our past wounds and trauma prevent us from flourishing in our marriages, parenting relationships, friendships and daily work. The safety of a therapeutic relationship allows the client to look below the surface, at the unhealed places in our story, and begin to reconnect, heal and grow.
